Today we take a look into the seamy underbelly of internet comment threads. Little green footballs is quite the sight, quite the sight indeed. Nearly any thread you click on will reveal the madness of it’s members. No, seriously, try to find a thread without some sort of clearly offensive or inflammatory statement. It’s like a scavenger hunt, except the only prize is your own horror! Let’s take a look!
Here’s a nice recent one, Cindy Sheehan always gets the old bloodlust up.

I see this recurring theme often, the whole "If yer don't agree, yer can get the HEEELLL OUT!" schtick, even to the extent of them setting up donation funds for "sending them home". I assume that's if you're not native to America, but for many on LGF, it's all good. Pretty sad worldview some people have.

Nah, Freepers are good, (or bad if you will) but nothing compares to the out and out ignorance, racism, and general stuipidity that I've seen on LGF over the years.
Sure Freepers might really go all out for a thread or two, but they run out of stamina too quickly.
LGF'ers will offend you all night long baby.
(BTW, I added your blog to my list but didn't ask permission, so this is me retroactively asking permission, I hope you use the FISA court method of approval...)
Interesting post. Of course, there are those on the right who will point to Atrios or Kos and can say essentially the same thing that you said regarding LGF or even of Free Republic. The other side of the coin is, that each of the sites mentioned has its own class of frequent reader/commenter and neither side (left-right that is)has a monopoly on "blothics"
Well the post about ethics was seperate from the post about LGF, the LGF post was strickly poking fun at it's readership, some Kossers aren't much better, although on average I find them to be more palatable than their counterparts, as they tend to refrain from out and out racism.
The business about ethics was because the moderator from a different site was changing the comments I'd made.

I agree, there are plenty of comments on some liberal blogs that are offensive. Some people even use #$%@# on some middle-right blogs. I do not use and refuse to continue discourse with those who use profanity or disrespect others or other's religions. Some of you may be too young to remember. I was a radio station manager at USC, and we subscribed to the NAB--National Association of Broadcaster's code of good conduct.
What is #$%@# supposed to mean?
Don't get me wrong here, I use profanity on a daily basis. Profanity can be a powerful tool, just look up the rudepundit.
I'm more concerned with the unchecked and often irrational aggression towards people they may never meet. There is a strong element of overgeneralization as well, as they often refuse to discuss the individual merit of a single idea without sticking some sort of poorly concieved label on it.
